How does Jeuveau Work

Jeuveau works by using a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, similar to other botulinum toxin products like Botox and Dysport. It's specifically designed to temporarily paralyze or weaken the muscles that contribute to wrinkles, particularly those known as dynamic wrinkles which are formed by repeated facial expressions such as frowning, squinting, or smiling.


Here’s a closer look at how Jeuveau operates:


  1. Blocking Nerve Signals: When Jeuveau is injected into a muscle, it blocks the nerve signals that cause the muscle to contract. This is achieved by preventing the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for triggering muscle contractions.
  2. Muscle Relaxation: As the treated muscles relax, the skin above them becomes smoother, leading to a reduction in the appearance of existing wrinkles and preventing new ones from forming.
  3. Temporary Effects: The effects of Jeuveau are temporary because the nerve endings eventually regenerate, and the muscle action gradually returns. The results typically last between 3 to 6 months, after which the treatment can be repeated to maintain the desired effect.
